Onsi Sawiris Graduate Scholarship for Egyptians to Study in the U.S.

The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Graduate Program 2024-2025, sponsored by Orascom Construction, provides fully funded scholarships for Egyptian students to pursue master’s degrees at prestigious universities in the United States in fields that will promote the economic prosperity of Egypt, including engineering and business administration (M.B.A.).

For engineering programmes, preference is given to fields that contribute to sustainable development such as civil engineering, environmental engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, water engineering and sustainability. Computer engineering and computer science programmes/majors are not covered under the scholarship programme and may only be included as a minor under the engineering school.

The scholarship master’s degree study at one of the following universities: University of Chicago, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Candidates who already have one master’s degree from a foreign university, or who have an Egyptian master’s degree in the same field they are applying for, will not be considered, Egyptian master’s degree holders in a different technical field will be considered. By October 2024, nominees must begin their university applications. They will get assistance in applying to U.S. colleges that have been endorsed. As soon as the applicant is accepted to the university, the scholarship will be awarded.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be Egyptian nationals who are residents of Egypt (preference will not be given to applicants who have dual nationality or have lived more than two years abroad).
  • Have a bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.5 or very good or above (cumulative grade).
  • Provide proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT test with a minimum total score of 100 or IELTS test (Academic) with a minimum overall score of 7.5. Test score reports must be from within the past two years.
  • Applicants applying to a Master of Business Administration course must have a minimum GMAT score of 650 (taken within the past five years) or a minimum overall GRE score of 315 (Analytical Writing: 4.5).
  • Applicants applying to Master of Engineering course must have a minimum overall GRE score of 315 (Analytical Writing: 4.5).
  • Be involved in extracurricular activities.
  • Have a minimum three years’ experience for M.B.A. applicants and a minimum two years’ experience for engineering applicants.
  • Be planning to start their studies in the U.S. in 2025.
  • Be committed to coming back to Egypt for two years directly after the completion of the degree.
  • Male applicants must provide a proof of military service completion, exemption or postponement.
